Overview
The Record
Sorell devotes a small habitable world to medicines rather than staple crops. Enclosed fields, research terraces, stills, drying rooms, and teaching compounds produce rare plants, prepared biological compounds, and trained Menders for Ilyra and other healing centers.
The settled belts remain breathable only because circulation towers, planted windbreaks, water catchments, and old pressure works are maintained with the fields. Beyond them, soil and air both thin. Growing licenses therefore govern more than commerce: a plot uses atmospheric capacity, biological risk, and water that the wider settlement must sustain.
Local growers and medical institutions administer the plots, preparations, and training. Ilyra protects the trade, oversees shared safety standards and external agreements, and does not own the fields. Sorell is neither an Ilyran estate nor an open market for any buyer seeking a rare crop.
Menders are trained and sent outward; physicians and growers mark a recovery by tending a plant in the patient’s name. That Dawn custom preserves the link between cultivation and care without claiming that the plant caused the recovery. Sorell’s value depends on specialization, but its thin managed air and strict biological controls prevent the moon from expanding production without limit.

- Ilyra
Sorell is a medical and botanical protectorate of Ilyra. Local growers and medical institutions govern cultivation, preparation, research, training, and access to their plots.
Ilyra protects Sorell’s trade and research, coordinates shared safety standards and knowledge exchange, and represents external agreements. It does not own the fields or convert Sorell into an Ilyran estate. Buyers have no general right to obtain a restricted crop.
Sorell’s botanical emblem identifies its institutions rather than a sovereign government. The moon’s influence comes from trusted medicine and trained practitioners, not independent military or diplomatic power.

Physical Characteristics
Ground and Sky
- Diameter2,140 km
- Mass0.003 Earth masses
- Gravity0.1 g
Sorell’s air is breathable within tended settlement belts and marginal beyond them. Circulation towers, planted windbreaks, water systems, and old pressure works maintain habitable valleys. Failure of those systems is a civic emergency, while an introduced blight can threaten both medicinal crops and the living infrastructure supporting them.
Orbit and Time
Path Around Oranth
- Orbital Order125
- Orbital Radius1,880,000 km
- Orbital Period9.616 days
- Rotation230.78 hours
- Inclination0.16 degrees
- Eccentricity0.005
Sorell rotates once during each 9.616-standard-day orbit and is tidally locked to Oranth, which remains fixed above the inner face. Growers use the extended stellar light in open fields and controlled lamps in research terraces, where some crops require reduced exposure. Frequent eclipses are included in planting and environmental-control schedules; cooler outer-face districts hold stores and drying rooms.
Culture
The Twofold
Sorell trains Menders and sends them to healing institutions across the Embrace. Physicians and growers commonly dedicate a plant to a recovering patient, keeping cultivation and care visibly linked without claiming that the rite replaces treatment. Dawn practice also governs restoration of damaged crops and the managed living systems that keep the settled belts habitable.
Travel
Travel Notes
Arrive at the public dock unless a growing or research permit names another landing site. All crews, samples, and cargo pass biological controls; an Ilyran safety mark can speed sealed medical freight but does not excuse inspection or authorize an unlicensed landing. Access to a field or research compound requires permission from the institution that manages it.
