Overview
The Record
Last Harbor receives ships before it asks them questions. Vessels leaving the Shatter arrive with exhausted crews, uncertain damage, and accounts distorted by the crossing; the port gives them shelter, medical care, fuel, and a safe dock before inspection begins. That order is the Harbor Authority’s method, not an indulgence.
Its pressurized residential, medical, and commercial districts support a permanent population of 140,000 and a transient population that can raise the total to 250,000. Outside them, vacuum yards work continuously on damaged hulls. Independent emergency docks allow a suspect vessel to be isolated without closing the whole port.
Edrane administers Last Harbor as essential Far Reach infrastructure. The Harbor Authority runs the docks and refuge process; Edrane supplies the external warrant under which it acts. Nearly every convoy economy beyond the Shatter depends on the port, but the Harbor does not rule those destinations. Its power ends at the work required to make an arrival safe and fit to continue.
Dawn practice belongs to rescue, repair, and the restoration of direction after a crossing. Gloam shelters arrivals who are not ready to speak and keeps a failure inquiry closed until its evidence can be trusted. Both practices support the same rule: stabilize first, reckon afterward.

Last Harbor is a chartered dependency administered by Edrane as repair, refuge, and convoy infrastructure for the Far Reach. The Harbor Authority governs dock operations and intake; Edrane represents the port externally and supplies its binding authority.
The Authority’s navigation-and-refuge emblem is institutional, while formal external acts use Edrane’s name.

Physical Characteristics
Ground and Sky
- Diameter65 km
- Mass0.000000000025 Earth masses
- Gravity0.3 g
Last Harbor encloses pressurized residential, medical, commercial, and repair districts maintained at 0.3 standard gravity; the station’s negligible natural mass does not produce that acceleration. Its large external yards remain in vacuum and microgravity. Independent emergency docks can isolate a damaged or contaminated vessel from inhabited sections. The chief hazards are those brought in from the Shatter: compromised hulls, unknown debris damage, exhausted crews, and unsafe Binding effects.

- Orbital Order716
- Orbital Radius11,550,000 km
- Orbital Period146.424 days
- Rotation24 hours
- Inclination2.2 degrees
- Eccentricity0.012
Last Harbor orbits Oranth every 146.424 standard days. Its external structures maintain a controlled twenty-four-hour attitude cycle, while inhabited districts follow the same twenty-four-hour Edrani civil clock; neither should be mistaken for a natural sunrise-to-sunrise day or the source of the districts’ maintained gravity. Repair yards work continuously across all watches.
Culture
The Twofold
Dawn practitioners work in rescue, repair, renewed direction, and the return of a damaged ship or crew to service. Gloam practitioners shelter vulnerable arrivals and keep testimony or technical evidence closed while a failure inquiry is incomplete. The Harbor treats privacy during recovery as part of obtaining an accurate account, not as exemption from inspection.
Travel
Travel Notes
Ordinary traffic may enter Last Harbor, but every vessel arriving from the Shatter is routed first to a safety berth for hull, crew, and Binding inspection. Damaged or uncertain craft may be held in an independent emergency dock before anyone enters the populated districts. Refusing routing instructions closes the port to the vessel and triggers Edrani convoy authority.
