The Anvil

Industrial or Resource · Industrial Moon

Kharadi low-gravity yards assembling heavy hulls, cargo frames, and drive sections that surface shipyards cannot launch whole.

Overview

The Record

The Anvil builds what a surface yard cannot launch whole. Across its low-gravity exterior, vacuum berths hold heavy hulls, cargo frames, and drive sections while they are joined at full scale rather than divided for ascent.

Pressurized design halls and worker districts support fabrication outside, but the finished structures remain in vacuum from assembly through departure. Continuous shifts depend on keeping active berths, component transfers, and approach lanes separate; an obstruction in one yard can delay every vessel waiting behind it.

The work complements Velyr’s broader shipbuilding industry rather than replacing it. Velyrian yards produce across more classes and trades. The Anvil specializes in the structures whose mass or dimensions make surface assembly impractical.

Kharadi industrial authority governs the yards and their access. The Anvil can assemble unusually large structures because its gravity is slight and its exterior already vacuum; it cannot function as an independent port or choose the wider program those structures serve.

Kharad

The Anvil operates under Kharadi industrial authority. Kharadi offices assign yard access, approve work, and represent the installation externally. Yard marks identify berths and contractors rather than an independent government, and no local body may redirect an assembly outside the authorized program.

Physical Characteristics

Ground and Sky

  • Diameter480 km
  • Mass0.000015097 Earth masses
  • Gravity0.02 g

The Anvil is airless outside. Heavy assembly takes place in open vacuum yards, while design halls, worker districts, and enclosed manufacturing chambers maintain separate pressurized environments. Workers transfer through sealed galleries and airlocks rather than crossing the yards unprotected.

Orbit and Time

Path Around Oranth

  • Orbital Order29
  • Orbital Radius545,000 km
  • Orbital Period1.501 days
  • Rotation36.02 hours
  • Inclination0.08 degrees
  • Eccentricity0.002

The Anvil rotates once during each 1.501-standard-day orbit and is tidally stabilized toward Oranth. Major yards occupy the Oranth-facing and trailing surfaces, where fixed geography simplifies approach lanes. Assembly continues through changing starlight and eclipses under yard lighting and shift clocks.

Culture

The Twofold

No site-wide Twofold practice governs the yards. Inspection, measurement, and engineering authority determine whether an assembly may move, and no repeatable evidence shows that either aspect is required to complete the work.

Travel

Travel Notes

Approach only on a Kharadi industrial clearance naming a yard and transfer window. Remain within the assigned lane: unfinished hulls, cargo frames, tugs, and component loads move through open vacuum without regard for passenger traffic. Visitors transfer into a pressurized district before entering design or worker areas.
