Overview
The Record
Hammerfast produces the standardized parts that let the inner system repair machinery built far apart: pressure housings, bearings, couplings, valves, drive components, and thousands of smaller fittings. Interchangeability is the station’s true product. It does not make the system’s greatest machines. It makes certain they can be repaired.
The station spans 24 kilometers and houses 44,000 people among enclosed manufacturing halls, exposed freight frames, and rotating residential drums. Workers live by specification, gauge, and production run, moving from artificial-gravity quarters to halls where a component must match a machine its maker may never see. Exterior workshops keep large loads in vacuum, while freight crews separate arriving stock from finished parts awaiting export.
Hammerfast operates under Othryni commercial authority. Othryni factors control major contracts, common production standards, and export schedules, but individual workshops retain their crews and methods. A factor may reject a part that fails the agreed measure or delay a shipment that lacks its contract. That authority does not permit the factors to dictate how every workshop reaches the standard.

Physical Characteristics
Ground and Sky
- Diameter24 km
- Mass0.000000000003 Earth masses
- Gravity0.22 g
Hammerfast’s freight frames and exterior workshops operate in vacuum, allowing large components to be moved and assembled without requiring pressurized bays. Its enclosed manufacturing halls maintain a dry, filtered nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere suited to precision machinery and human labor. Residential drums rotate independently to provide approximately 0.22 standard gravity.

Hammerfast’s outer structure follows a controlled twenty-four-hour attitude cycle for thermal balance, freight alignment, and access to its exposed workshops. The inhabited districts use the same twenty-four-hour civil clock, though their independently rotating drums turn at a separate rate to provide artificial gravity.
Travel
Travel Notes
Approach on an Othryni commercial clearance naming a dock and freight window. Exposed workshop frames, component loads, and station rotation make an unscheduled crossing hazardous even when the assigned port is visible. Visitors may not enter a workshop floor, freight frame, or residential drum beyond the access written into their contract.
