Overview
The Record
Ravelin Port turns separate vessels into a crossing. Passenger ships, freighters, repair craft, and escorts gather along its docking spines while navigators revise routes, pilots transfer aboard, cargo clears the customs apertures, and damaged vessels enter protected bays. A ship may arrive ready to depart and still wait for the route, escort, and convoy to become ready at the same time.
The station was built for far more traffic than the Shatter ever allowed to reach Edrane. Active habitation and repair modules stand beside dark berths left from that original expectation. The unused capacity is not wholly waste: it gives Ravelin shelter, repair space, and room to assemble convoys at a scale no neighboring port can readily match.
Koravel and Varos remain independent, as do the other worlds whose traffic passes through Ravelin. Edrane does not govern them from the port. It certifies routes, assigns its pilots and escorts, and provides coordination they still need in practice. Traffic tied to Damaris, Dovara, Helion, Marovar, Vandor, and the Lock enters the same system. Ravelin’s authority rests on that distinction: the station does not own the Far Reach, but much of the Far Reach waits at its berths before attempting the road inward.

Governance
Edrani civil, navigation, and security authorities control the station, its route certification, and its convoy schedules. Independent carriers and representatives of other Far Reach powers keep offices at Ravelin because they require its services, not because they share command of the port.
