Overview
The Record
Seldran Array tells Kharad when the approaches toward the Deep are unsafe. Reinforced towers and instrument platforms watch Oranth’s storms, radiation, upper atmosphere, and magnetic weather from the leeward face of a vast mesa. Their forecasts can delay or close a corridor. They cannot open one or grant a vessel permission to descend.
Most of the settlement lies within the rock. Laboratories, homes, public chambers, and maintenance works are buried against thin turbulent air, racing dust, and ice-crystal haze. Above them, every exposed instrument must be anchored, shielded, or designed to be replaced when the plateau takes it. Scientific directors set the methods, tests, and publication of results; Kharad funds and protects the network and acts upon the warnings it receives.
The Array’s central difficulty is evidentiary. Descriers can perceive a magnetic surge before an instrument confirms it, while the Rethin charter requires warnings to be tested and made public. Seldran therefore distinguishes an early caution from a completed finding and holds dangerous results until they can be stated responsibly. Revelation and restraint are not rival principles here. They are stages in producing a warning others may safely obey.
Three inquiries at Seldran have sought the leader of the Faithful and closed without a name. Each failed on the title. The person sought is called the Observer, and several thousand people on Rethis are entitled to that word on an employment record.

Environment
The settlement occupies the leeward face of a vast mesa among bare plateaus and knife-edged ridges. Laboratories, homes, public rooms, and maintenance works are buried in rock against thin turbulent air, dust, and ice-crystal haze. Exposed towers and platforms are anchored, shielded, and built with replacement in mind.

Travel Notes
Reach Seldran from Rasken Anchorage by enclosed surface transport and buried passages. Kharadi authorization permits the visit but does not open live platforms or instrument halls. Storms and active tests restrict exposed access; outside protected structures, visitors follow local tether rules and remain with trained crews.
