Overview
The Record
Skallin Anchorage keeps one narrow entrance working through Koravel’s winter. Fortress headlands shelter a deep bay while icebreakers and heated channels open a route through the seasonal pack. Orbital landers, freight vessels, and military transports reach armored quays beneath the local principality’s defenses; warehouses and repair halls climb the rock above them.
The port converts arriving traffic into inland movement. Customs and military inspectors clear cargo, repairs are made, and tracked convoys form beyond the gates for the winter roads. The harbor may remain open while those roads close under snow, or while a neighboring court withdraws permission. Freight can therefore wait at Skallin long enough for the route that brought it down to disappear again.
Skallin connects to Edrane’s convoy system without becoming a common entrance to Koravel. Clearance admits a traveler to one principality. The next may require different papers, another escort, and a bargain with another court. Port factors earn their place by knowing which courts are speaking, which roads remain usable, and when a cargo is safer in orbit than ashore as evidence in a territorial dispute.
Identity and Function
Function
Skallin handles orbital transfers, customs, military inspection, heavy freight, vessel repair, and icebreaking. Beyond its gates, tracked convoys assemble for winter roads leading toward several neighboring principalities under separate permissions.
Identity and Function
Governance
One principality owns the Anchorage and governs it through a port court, harbor command, customs offices, and garrison. Foreign carriers may lease berths. Neither an Edrani convoy paper nor clearance at Skallin grants passage through territory controlled by another Koravelan court.
Environment and Travel
Environment
Fortress headlands and jagged mountains enclose a deep frozen bay. Armored quays, landing pads, warehouses, repair halls, heated channels, storm shelters, and enclosed passenger ways remain active while icebreakers hold a narrow approach through the seasonal pack.
