Overview
The Record
Zorvek is Valdyr’s largest settlement, a city of 600,000 descending through the broadest stable fracture in the moon’s ice. Blue-black walls rise above inhabited tiers cut into volcanic stone, crossed by enclosed bridges and threaded with heat pipes, meltwater channels, and freight ways. At the rift head, the protected landing field receives vessels on the glacier. Insulated lifts carry passengers and cargo down from that exposed threshold into the warm city.
Valdyr’s local administration sits at Zorvek and is maintained jointly by the geothermal holds. It coordinates the shared work that must reach beyond one fracture without becoming a government over every hold. Koravel keeps a trade and mutual-defense mission here, but the mission has no authority over Zorvek’s government or Valdyri internal law. In the exchange houses, contracts for geothermal output pass beside refined ore and fittings built for cold-region settlements.
Heat gives the city its order. Pumps and conduits join districts that cannot survive an interruption, so silence in a heat pipe is a civic alarm rather than an inconvenience. When ice or stone breaks across a passage, Menders are called beside structural crews. Zorvek governs because the holds keep it working, and it remains inhabited because every tier listens to the machinery below.
