Overview
The Record
Malketh Pass makes the crossing between Vandor’s mountain interior and the dry outer flats usable. Permanent stone halls, repair sheds, cargo platforms, pressure shelters, and signal towers occupy the narrow ground, while modular workshops and prospecting camps spread or vanish according to the latest find. Failed companies leave foundations behind. Their claims do not always fail with them.
Prospectors come to register a working, dispute a survey line, buy supplies, repair equipment, and hire transport before going farther into the uplands. The frontier charter gives Malketh authority over that local record and the passage agreements attached to it. It gives the settlement no right to judge another Vandori hold or turn a claim entered here into law across the moon.
Older powers remain legible without governing the pass. Edrani surveys and boundary stones preserve a claim Malketh does not accept as present rule; Rhovani protection helps ensure that disagreement does not become annexation, but does not place the registry under Rhovan. Malketh’s independence therefore rests on a narrow mechanism: it keeps its own record, supplies those willing to trust it, and refuses to let either an old marker or a foreign escort become a government.
Identity and Function
Function
Malketh records local mineral claims and passage agreements, repairs prospecting equipment, transfers cargo, and supplies parties bound for remote camps beyond the mountains. Its yards expand with a discovery and empty when a venture fails.

Environment and Travel
Environment
Stone halls, repair sheds, cargo platforms, signal towers, and pressure shelters crowd a narrow cut between wind-scoured ranges. Modular camps and prospecting equipment spread toward the dry flats among abandoned foundations. The air is thinner and colder than at Ferren Basin, and exposed slopes offer little shelter from dust or sudden weather.

Travel Notes
Landing requires local charter approval and enough open cargo ground to receive a vessel. Wind, dust, thin air, unstable slopes, and camp traffic can close the pass or interrupt onward travel. An empty shelter or idle working is not necessarily abandoned property; travelers should verify the registry before occupying either.
